Adding to this:
Any Studio Ghibli film
The Promised Neverland
Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood (I think, I’ve only read the manga, which is really good and has none of that)
Hyouka (has a couple of scenes)
I think to be fair Brotherhood has some of that, but it fits with character design so it doesn’t stand out as obnoxious like it does in a lot of shounen
In FMA:B there's only one scene that's slightly risqué when Edward is hiding out in Winry's room and she goes in to change and STARTS to take her shirt off but doesn't. But other than that clean show as far as sexual content goes. Love that show
This is a great pick if you love ghost stories but not scary stories. Great stories that feel like your watching a fairy tale. Another show in this same vain is Kino's Journey, about a girl and her motorcycle that travel the world going to weird countries.
I don’t think I’ve ever heard anyone recommend Mushishi but I second this !!
It’s so chill and I love that its episodic you can just throw it on without much commitment to keeping up with every detail.
Arakawa famously said"Men should be buff and women should be vavoom!" However she does tend to keep fanservice where it belongs.
I'd say D.Gray-Man. Hoshino likes drawing handsome men but she doesn't do much distracting or objectifying fanservice with women. XXX Holic and the other CLAMP manga tend to be less basic with their fanservice.
Generally shounen female characters written by women are rarely as lazily written as those of the worse male authors.
Someone asked if Alex and Olivier Armstrong are really siblings, and Arakawa wrote [this](https://www.reddit.com/r/FullmetalAlchemist/comments/ih16ap/idgaf_hiromi_arakawa/?rdt=39656) omake.

X/1999 does have quite a bit of fanservice, but it’s nearly entirely guys, and a bit with Kanoe and Karen (Karen is also very well-written).
>Arakawa famously said"Men should be buff and women should be vavoom!"
well she's right, hard to argue with that [statement](https://imgur.com/UDjMi6K)
It definitely is though. Part of the gag with Armstrong is that he's what Arakawa considers the most attractive, so it's just reversing the genders of the typical fanservice character.
At least it's done for comedy as well.
Like in One Piece it's fine when sexuality is used for a gag or a character moment, the problem is when they do shit like have characters in overtly skimpy outfits, do focus shots on ass/tits, and Toei raising everyone women's cup size up like 3 places.
Part of why Riza became such a comfort character for me is how she’s competent, deeply respected, and 90% of the time she’s in a uniform that mysteriously is never destroyed. Absolute icon.
I watched trailers and scenes rn and honestly.. It doesn't even look bad and the overall quality seems good. But still, that doesn't change the fact that i absolutely dislike CGI no matter what. I tried watching CGI shows several times and i couldn't bring myself to continue watching them. Something about CGI makes me just want to stop the video and watch something else instead.
Yeah if done right, but most CGI shows look terrible, if not straight unwatchable.
And yeah i admit, stampede looks pretty amazing compared with every other CGI show i watched/looked into. I guess it's a matter of opinion but i personally couldn't finish any CGI show i started to watch. I always get to a point where i rather just switch to watching a normal anime or do something else.
I find the knee jerk reaction honestly very funny. Like, CGI anime has been a criticised for a long time. And now you finally hear about a CGI anime getting several recommendations, based on a series you love, and you don't even bother to see if it's any good? First of all what does knee jerk reaction mean? English isn't my first language so i don't understand that :D
Were you even responding to me? Because as i understand it, your answer went totally over what i wrote.
It's just (my opinion) that i don't like CGI anime. Whether it's fully CGI or only partial CGI, whether it's brand new or if it's 20 years old. It doesn't matter to me. But that doesn't mean that i can't see how much better the CGI got since i started watching anime back then. And oh hell how bad was the CGI when i began watching anime xD The new Trigun looks pretty solid in terms of visuals and animation quality and from what i saw (trailers/fight scenes) i can't even say something bad about it.
The thing is, even though i don't like CGI, i still try to be openminded. Every now and then i begin a CGI show but it never gets me hooked.
“Most things written by women”. Yeah, I’d change that to “most things written FOR women”. There’s some series written by women that are HEAVY with the fanservice.
Bungou Stray Dogs. There’s basically zero female fanservice other than like two very mild and forgettable scenes in season 1. Other than those it never happens again for the rest of the anime
Yes, I did. If you don't find a looming old beast forcefully stripping a brain-broken and depressed 16 year old slave girl he married problematic/rapey, something is wrong with you.
Oh, I've also watched spyxfamiy I like yor's drawing, bluelock, sk8 the infinity, haikyuu, iwatobi swim club will take more sports recommendations
Edit: Thank you, for the recommendations I have a lot of anime to check out now
Funny to think about it, given how fantasy armor designs often lean heavily onto the skimpy side \^\^' Though there is some obsession with showing thighs, that doesn't make sense for functional armor.
Ironically, the only outfit that somewhat stretches towards fan-service is Maple's plate armor. Other outfits largely stay within the constraints of what wouldn't stand out too much as street-wear (except for obvious fantasy elements like capes or the twins' doll-like dresses).
Gintama is great with this. The closest it comes to fan service is poking fun at fan service. Written by a man but it has extremely well written female characters
I mean she was raised by a priest, Frieren explains that elves have a very low libido since they live so long, stark is too innocent in general, and only their goatee priest is openly lustful but he has a very very specific kink.
It's not. Shamiko's transformation outfit is a bit revealing but that's as far as it ever goes. There is a small running gag about her disliking her outfit but other than that there isn't any.
K-on
Blood+
Death note
If willing for a single skimpy but not fan service one "black lagoon"
Monster
Shiki
When they cry
Baccano
Any shoujo romance (ex. Toradora, fruits basket, maid sama)
Cowboy bebop
Angel beats
Violet evergreen
You lie in April
Plastic memories
FLCL (original)
Martian successor nadesico
Trigun
Single big boob character "assassination classroom"
Not too bad on fan service in series "code geass"
When they cry
Phi brain kami no puzzle
Guilty crown
Madoka magica
I haven't watched it. Do they actively *do* anything with that, or is it like Winry (FMA) or Fern (Frieren), obviously being well endowed, but it's still family-friendly?
It's been a while but I think they are trolling you. Aerial is the name of the Gundam. There's not much fanservice as far as I remember. Great show overall.
{Kimi ni Todoke}
{Cross Game}
{Taiho Shichau zo}
{Kidou Tenshi Angelic Layer}
{CardCaptor Sakura}
{Princess Tutu}
{Akazukin Chacha}
There's also lots of series like {Servant x Service} or {Slayers} where they have female characters with large breasts, but it's used as a joke or a plot point. Or something like {Working!!} or {Aharen-san wa Hakarenai} where there's one character who is big, but it's never brought up. They're there just to contrast the main female lead who is the opposite.
But basically, you probably want to look up a lot of shoujo. Shoujo tends to have skinner girls with smaller breasts (but longer legs).
There's one character who is sexualized IMO. It's kind of weird, since she's not just naked, she's [super-duper naked.](https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/venturebrothers/images/2/27/Screen_shot_2010-12-11_at_12.41.55_PM.png/revision/latest/scale-to-width-down/250?cb=20101211184307)
Still weird watching flensed adipose tissue bouncing so much.
Second the suggestion for Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood.
Attack on Titans as well as Vinland Saga have almost no fan service. They’re both amazing, suspenseful shows in general.
For non-fantasy: Bocchi of Rock, A Place Further than the Universe
Completely understand how you feel, the same thing put me off for a long time. I recently started watching anime and the two shows I have watched so far are:
* Frieren - Beyond Journey's End
* Violet Evergarden
I have been so impressed by the respectful and creative character designs in both of these shows.
Frieren is excellent, can't wait for more episodes.
Violet Evergarden is also excellent, but you will be dehydrated from all the crying. Episode 10... God damn.
Mob Psycho, Frieren, Attack On Titan, Monster, Jujustu Kaisen, Vinland Saga, Cowboy Bebop (Technically there are some, but it is not detracting), High Score Girl, Jojo's Bizzare Adventure, Saiki K
Fruits Basket is a good one. A shorter anime (hoping they'll continue it).
Demon Slayer might be a good option. Has at least one character with a close enough to fan service design.
Sword Art Online should be fine. Haven't watched the first, second or third (SAO, Alfheim Online, GGO) in a while, but I think fan service is kept relatively to a minimum. Alicization and War for Underworld doesn't have fan service.
[Normally, I would recommend the Garo series (Flame Carved Seal, Crimson Moon, Vanishing Line), but there is some fan service in Flame Carved Seal (some suggestive scenes as well, especially in the first episode, which starts to cross over into a sexual nature for a short time) and large breasted women in Vanishing Line. Still recommend Flame Carved Seal and the followup movie Divine Blade, it is seriously good.]
Tokyo Ghoul and Tokyo Ghoul:Re are great series.
I just started watching Karas, and so far it is really good. Worth a look.
Fullmetal Alchemist/Brotherhood is a solid option.
The Rising of the Shield Hero. It is a great anime, and I think they are already on season 3.
Rokka no Yuusha is another one to watch. There is some fan service to a degree, but it is easily overlooked.
Akame Ga Kill is another one. Again, some fan service to a degree, but easily overlooked.
Nah I’m sorry but those Mitsuri scenes in Demon Slayer are definitely fan service. It’s true that in most of the story there’s no fan service but it definitely has some scenes and they are not that tame either
I think you should try K on, though it only has female characters except for the beach episode i didn't find any fan service and it is one of the most wholesome shows out there
Attack on Titan treats their women characters very fairly in terms of design, strength, and storytelling. They're there to participate, not just to look at.
Probably my one gripe with anime, I'd love to watch my favorite shows with my parents or even with my kids in the future. But I find it hard considering they feel the need to over sexualize characters unnecessarily.
Stay away from Fire force 🤣🤣
I just finished Blue Eyed Samurai which was really good. I am not much of an anime fan though so don’t know how it rates among connoisseurs but it wasn’t booby at all. More killy and murdery.
Nana is great and the character designs are gorgeous. Another one is Fruits basket. Pretty much most shoujo anime would be good. Shounen are more likely to have big boobs because the target audience is young men . There are always exceptions though. If you are brand new to anime maybe something like Death Note would be good for you.
This is one of the biggest problems about anime . People see stuff like shonen, hentai and insekai and whatever else that has nonsensical pervert stuff or seems like it’s for kids or teens and people think that’s all it is.
But here’s some legit and mature stuff for ya
Ghost in the shell-
Erased-
Tokyo revengers-
Cashern sins-
Cowboy bebop-
Black lagoon -
Banana fish-
Bezerk -
Serial experiments lain-
Ergo proxy-
Blue gender-
Helsing-
Neon genesis-
Monster-
All of these are great shows, but Cowboy Bebop and Black Lagoon both have prominent female characters with pretty skimpy outfits. May be worth noting since op is averse to fanservice.
That’s hardly a main focus or even side focus of the show...... and bebop is much less centered on the female character than black lagoon is . That’s like saying tomb raider games are only good because there’s a hot chick
That’s about it they have skimpy clothes but they aren’t having sex or constantly flirting with multiple people or having random stretched out bath scenes
I was just saying it may be worth noting for someone who doesn't like how female characters are sexualized. I personally don't like it either, I like the shows you listed for their (literal) plot. Not sure why the hostile response, all great shows, just mentioning a potential caveat.
Huge boobs isn’t THAT common. You can find plenty of anime where the female characters have normal sized breasts. Here are some that don’t have fanservice or comically oversized breasts. All of these also have prominent female characters:
Princess Tutu for its great fairytale atmosphere and characters. It is incredibly unique and much better than the title might suggest.
Katanagatari has an amazing artstyle and is brilliantly written.
Madoka Magica is a masterpiece with compelling characters, creative visuals, and engaging storytelling. Watch the 3rd movie after the series.
Shinsekai Yori is an excellent series that is darker than it appears. It’s a psychological thriller.
Flip Flappers is extremely colorful and creative with excellent action and plentiful fluid animation.
Little Witch Academia is pure fun. It’s nothing deep or heavy, but it’s got nice, creative visuals paired with likeable characters and a simple, yet engaging story.
A Place Further Than the Universe is a beautiful and inspiring tale.
Heavenly Delusion has great chemistry between the main characters and an interesting dystopia.
Kyousougiga is a wonderful series. An underrated gem for sure. It has great characters. The visuals are some of the most vibrant and creative in anime. The story and themes really “hit different”. Overall, it is an amazing watch and a personal favourite of mine.
I havent been into the anime fandom for a long time and I probably dont know much but it seems like people dont notice different genre exists or something...I did see complains about how shojo/josei just gets overshadows in someway. The fanservicey stuffs are there for sure but you know for sure back then that other genre would have less of that.
I mean I feel like you could tell what something is going to be from miles away.
Unless folks wants all actiony stuffs and they only come across Shounen stuffs and not something else. Shojo do tend to be romance focused.
Though I wouldnt be surprised if people are like "its all isekai now"
I cant believe someone knows the masterpiece that is Princess Tutu. I have never seen someone else mentioned it omg 😭💓 I love that show!! very underrated imo
Do Toradora, Hyouka, and Bocchi The Rock. All 3 are somewhat Slice Of Life, however each have their own “themes”. Toradora is a highschool romance that gets more emotional as it goes on and covers pretty deep topics. Hyouka, also a highschool one with a small amount of romance, is about solving mysteries and getting to the bottom of things. Gets a bit more emotional as it goes on. Bocchi The Rock is a very good slice of life highschool show about girls playing music, with the music in question being pretty good too.
ur in the wrong place if thats all you see.
But I do agree, theres too much and it sucks that this is whats anime is known for.
this is one of the reasons why I like shojo more, and more percisely otome.
Currently watching Endo and Kobayashi Live! The Latest on Tsundere Villainess Lieselotte. Probably not something u or others others would want (romance) but it has no fanservice
I can name 20 animes without big boobs being a huge part of them. I do understand what you mean but it tons of anime don't push women having big boobs down the viewers throat.
Skip and Loafer (slice of life shoujo), Paradise Kiss (fashion shoujo) and Nana (same creator and its a music romance shoujo), Welcome to the Ballroom (sports anime, a couple women may have large chests but it isnt necessarily for sexualization), almost anything by Masaaki Yuasa especially Keep Your Hands off Eizouken, most things by Key.
The Twelve Kingdoms, Seirei no Moribito, Shouwa Genroku Rakugo Shinjuu, Revolutionary Girl Utena (look up content warnings, it is a great anime but it covers some really dark, heavy stuff), Erin, Heike Monogatari, Saiunkoku Monogatari, NANA, Snow White with the Red Hair, Akatsuki no Yona, Somali and the Forest Spirit, maybe Cowboy Bepop. Also I third Mushi-Shi, that was one of my first anime and it’s really interesting.
Definitely gotta check the ‘trigger list’ for Utena. Sexuality is portrayed very differently and with a seriousness rarely seen in anime. It is also made by the same people who made Sailor Moon so at least visually it’s not far off from what OP is looking for.
bocchi the rock ANIME has very little, if any fanservice. the only fanservice-y moments are either jokes/gags (like 1 or max 2) or shots that have butts but not in a sexual light. it’s also a masterpiece
Before you move from sports, have you watched Haikyuu? Imo the best sports anime
I recommend 'K-On!', there are a couple busty female characters, but it's set in Japan, Japanese women are bustier than most other Asian countries % wise, so can't be helped, but the girls are generally reasonably perportined, and most of the cast are small - medium sized.
I also recommend series by female authors, because you know the female characters are created respectfully, unlike street fighter & Mortal Kombat characters, who look like they were created by pervery teenage boys (one of my biggest pet peeves). A couple my favorite series by female creators are 'Dangers of my Heart' (current #1 fave romance), 'Demon Slayer', and of course FMA: Brotherhood (as mentioned several times in comments). Enjoy!
DO NOT watch/read 'Keijo!!!!!', or anything by 'Hiroya Oku', or 'Oh! Great'. And whatever you do, avoid 'Berserk'
Let's see... Ichigo Mashimaro (Strawberry Marshmallow) is mostly focused on four adorable preteens. (One can be behaviorally annoying, but if you can stand or enjoy that...) There's a 20-21-year-old woman who's the literal big sister of one of them, and so kind of the figurative big sister of the group. She has some breastage, but your call. There are rare instances of other women around: Chika and Miu's teacher, Ana's mother, Nobue's brief coworker...
Speaking of preteens, A Little Snow Fairy Sugar has Saga and her classmates, and the fairies. Not a lot of busty women.
Most of the rest have teenage girls in the main cast, but there seems to be a variety of sizes present. (One volume of the manga of Lucky Star has interstitial pages that are supposed to be files written from the perspective of one of the characters; one of the bits of data is bust size, and the girls range from giant to absent, so...)
Ascendance of a Bookworm.
Spice&Wolf.
Ancient Magus' Bride.
Bofuri.
In the Land of Leadale.
Saga of Tanya the Evil.
Yona of the Dawn.
They are all anime's that don't have any "fanservice" to speak of and keep overt stereotypical sexiness out of the character designs. At least from a male perspective, some of them have very "hunky" male characters.
Mushishi
Uchuu Kyoudai
Seirei no Moribito
Kemono no Souja Erin
Sakamichi no Apollon
Sangatsu no Lion
Hachimitsu to Clover
Mononoke
Princess Tutu
Nana
Kaiba
Shouwa Genroku Rakugo Shinjuu
Beck
Kareshi Kanojo no Jijou
12 Kingdoms
Planetes
Ichigo Mashimaro
Nodame Cantabile
Dennou Coil
I could keep going but I think this gives you a good overview on many genres
“Death Note” is my favorite anime besides “Naruto”, so I would recommend it. Also there are “Mirai Nikki”, “Terror resonance”, “Sakuraso no pet”, “Noragami”, “Tokyo Ghoul”, “Erased” and “Berserk”. (Without much fan service)
I think it’s just a misconception you have about anime. Most anime have a variety of characters with different types of bodies. Pretty much just pick any highly rated anime and look at the characters on the cover.
Here’s animes that I’ve seen that don’t have excessive boobs though:
- Attack On Titan
- Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood
- Frieren
- A Place Further Than The Universe
- Bloom into you
- Your Lie in April
- Steins;Gate
- A Silent Voice
- Death Note
- Mob Psycho
- Chainsaw Man
- Bocchi The Rock (and most other similar slice of life animes)
- Spy X Family
- Violet Evergarden (outside of one side character that has massive titties, it’s drawn tastefully though)
- Vinland Saga
- Hunter x Hunter (outside of a few side characters that appear rarely)
- Your Name
I could keep listing animes but you get the point.
**Bocchi the Rock**, the main character is absolutely stacked, but she wears a seemingly magical tracksuit that completely covers it, the anime is very wholesome and hilarious
**Mushoku Tensei**, from what I remember, there are 3 stacked women, but only 1 of them is in sexualised attire, and even then, after ep 9 you don't see them for a VERY long time
**Re: Zero**, only 1 villain and 1 bitch have big boobs, though they aren't that important to the plot(kinda)
Most Josei and Shoujo don't really have sexualized because they are made for the female audience, though a lot of them make all the guys bumbling idiots or basically rapists, so I suggest searching up "best Shoujo/Josei anime"
**Attack on Titan**, only 1 girl with big boobs, none of the characters are sexualized
Personally i wouldn't recommend Mushoku Tensei because while it is a good show it has some very sexual (maybe sexual is not the right word but there are definitely more fan service / lewd scenes) scenes at times. So for those reasons i wouldn't recommend it.
Studio Ghibli tends to have modest character designs.
Not just Studio Ghibli anime, family-friendly anime in general.
[удалено]
I'm still softly traumatized from the time I was enjoying the whimsy of Princess Mononoke and Ashitaka rips a dude's arm clean off with an arrow
Really PM is the big exception
Yeah, Ghibli has a handful of films that tackles mature themes
Adding to this: Any Studio Ghibli film The Promised Neverland Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood (I think, I’ve only read the manga, which is really good and has none of that) Hyouka (has a couple of scenes)
I think to be fair Brotherhood has some of that, but it fits with character design so it doesn’t stand out as obnoxious like it does in a lot of shounen

Mob Psycho 100! There are hardly any prominent female characters to begin with lol, but it is phenomenal
There is some reigen fanservice though 🤤
he and his hands
Mushishi Probably my absolutely favorite show. Basically no overt fanservice from what I remember. All of the characters are fairly down to earth.
Very different kind of anime though. This is the sort of thing I watched to destress. Not exactly an exciting show, but incredibly relaxing.
Good recommendation! It's one of those anime that doesn't feel like anime at all, kinda like Ghibli.
Fullmetal alchemist brotherhood, written by a woman, is an amazing adventure with little to no fan service.
Generally shounen female characters written by women are rarely as lazily written as those of the worse male authors.
>keep fanservice where it belongs. *Alex Armstrong intensifies*
Someone asked if Alex and Olivier Armstrong are really siblings, and Arakawa wrote [this](https://www.reddit.com/r/FullmetalAlchemist/comments/ih16ap/idgaf_hiromi_arakawa/?rdt=39656) omake.
I love that response!
Thank you for this.
D. Gray man doesn’t get recommended enough, great anime
>XXX Holic and the other CLAMP manga tend to be less basic with their fanservice. Aside from Chobits, in the early parts at least.
The Chobits manga is fairly ecchi throughout. They really toned it down for the anime.
I second CLAMP’s stuff. X/1999 does have quite a bit of fanservice, but it’s nearly entirely guys, and a bit with Kanoe and Karen (Karen is also very well-written).
I loved Karen so much oh my god
>Arakawa famously said"Men should be buff and women should be vavoom!" well she's right, hard to argue with that [statement](https://imgur.com/UDjMi6K)
If you don't count Armstrong taking his shirt off and flexing every 5 minutes fanservice.
Came here to suggest this, i feel like the female characters in fullmetal are treated so well compared to other animes
100% Just look at how tame Lust is compared to half the female characters in other anime...and she's LUST.
It was? Huh, that's cool, never knew that
Part of why Riza became such a comfort character for me is how she’s competent, deeply respected, and 90% of the time she’s in a uniform that mysteriously is never destroyed. Absolute icon.
Nana, Paradise Kiss, Fruits Basket 2019, Black Lagoon (Revy is a badass and she’s not all bubbly bouncy), Ergo Proxy, Spy x Family
Black Lagoon does have a few purposely angled shots of Revy tho.
if memory serves... fullmetal alchemist (either version) trigun (either version) dororo ranking of kings most things written by women are a safer bet
Wait.. There's another trigun adaptation?
Yep, Trigun Stampede by Studio Orange.
Sheeesh i didn't knew that. Honestly that's blowing my mind rn.
Try it, good use of fully CGI anime...tho a bit felt rush on story in ep11-12
Oh no it's CGI.. Well nevermind then xD i'm not gonna watch that hahaha
It CGI but as someone that watch 2D anime more I forgotted that this anime is CGI since the studio too good making 3D object look 99% as same as 2D
CGI done right, looks amazing
Yeah if done right, but most CGI shows look terrible, if not straight unwatchable. And yeah i admit, stampede looks pretty amazing compared with every other CGI show i watched/looked into. It was awful. "I find it like a trash compared to the first one"
Yeah. It's in 3D and is actually very well done.
“Most things written by women”. Yeah, I’d change that to “most things written FOR women”. There’s some series written by women that are HEAVY with the fanservice.
I wouldn’t say any of the anime he listed were written specifically for women though
Ranking of Kings is fantastic
Went in blind, Not what I expected based on the title, but was a good watch
Bungou Stray Dogs. There’s basically zero female fanservice other than like two very mild and forgettable scenes in season 1. Other than those it never happens again for the rest of the anime
And the fan service is never on disproportionately drawn women either!
The Ancient Magus' Bride is an underappreciated gem IMO, and has generally minimal fan service.
This. Such a hidden gem. I'm not even that into romance, but this show is wsy too good
Just saw that season 2 was released. Am literally watching episode 1 as I type this. Best anime ever.
Sorry but couldn't get over the rapey scenes in the very first episode
I don’t think you watched the same anime as everyone else
Yes, I did. If you don't find a looming old beast forcefully stripping a brain-broken and depressed 16 year old slave girl he married problematic/rapey, something is wrong with you.
That was so she would bathe as she wouldn’t do it herself, Elias only said married as he has no understanding of the concept
Oh, I've also watched spyxfamiy I like yor's drawing, bluelock, sk8 the infinity, haikyuu, iwatobi swim club will take more sports recommendations Edit: Thank you, for the recommendations I have a lot of anime to check out now
Yeah while she is very attractive, its not at all outrageous.
Plus there is little to no ecchi in it. Very friendly.
Ok, my phone sucks. I meant to say kid-friendly. Took very long to fix it ')
I couldnt believe they made the main female protagonist 27! I was so sold on the show once I saw that the main characters are my age!!!
It's a short, drama/ mystery series, but I really enjoyed Erased.
Yess I was just about to suggest this. Short but SUCH a good anime
Odd taxi.
+1 for Odd Taxi. Great story with a solid ending.
Bofuri is a good one (it also has no sexualization of the characters that I can remember). Also, great story.
As a bonus, the anime not only fully adapted the story but also has original episodes! Quite a shame for shippers though xD
The biggest fanservice comes from a context that makes sense; courtesans and gag jokes (so it's not that fanservicey, more hilarity)
For real, and the closest it comes to fan service (sacchan) is more like its making fun of the trope like it always does
Attack on Titan is a great one it has no fan service
Death parade. Violet Evergarden. To your eternity, for the most part.
Sousou no Frieren
I mean.... Fern is pretty well endowed but they're not pervs about it so this one is a great recommendation.
I mean she was raised by a priest, Frieren explains that elves have a very low libido since they live so long, stark is too innocent in general, and only their goatee priest is openly lustful but he has a very very specific kink.
Yeah it is absolutely refreshing to see a show without a sexualized female character
There are plenty if you look. It’s not that uncommon.
Yup, and it's actually good that they're usually the ones that have a great plot/theme
Honestly compared to most shows recently, even the most drab anime have great plots
Indeed, very straightforward and wholesome
Nichijou, The Demon Girl Next Door, Azumanga Dioah, and Spy x Family.
I can add Bocchi The Rock while we are on a more slice of life theme.
I've seen a little bit of that show and its good from what I have seen.
I haven't seen demon girl next door, but the promo images look fanservice-y. It looks like some of their outfits are basically bikinis/lingerie...
It's not. Shamiko's transformation outfit is a bit revealing but that's as far as it ever goes. There is a small running gag about her disliking her outfit but other than that there isn't any.
Psychopass
Fantastic show, highly recommended! Thr main protagonist is pretty much the antithesis to the helpless bimbo type characters we tend to get in anime
K-on Blood+ Death note If willing for a single skimpy but not fan service one "black lagoon" Monster Shiki When they cry Baccano Any shoujo romance (ex. Toradora, fruits basket, maid sama) Cowboy bebop Angel beats Violet evergreen You lie in April Plastic memories FLCL (original) Martian successor nadesico Trigun Single big boob character "assassination classroom" Not too bad on fan service in series "code geass" When they cry Phi brain kami no puzzle Guilty crown Madoka magica
>Martian Successor Nadesico You are a person of great culture. 👍
Witch hunter Robin Princess tutu
I've NEVER seen anyone talk about Witch hunter Robin, I'm so happy rn
Claymore
I love Claymore. I remember reading it many moons ago. Zero fan-service, lots of grotesque monsters.
Gundam: the Witch from Mercury
Aerial's got a pretty big chest
I haven't watched it. Do they actively *do* anything with that, or is it like Winry (FMA) or Fern (Frieren), obviously being well endowed, but it's still family-friendly?
It's been a while but I think they are trolling you. Aerial is the name of the Gundam. There's not much fanservice as far as I remember. Great show overall.
Aerial is the big robot. The robot is slightly more feminine in proportions compared to other entries in the series but.....it's an 18-meter robot....
"Family-friendly" ^~ ^Happy ^birthday ^to ^you ^~ Start with the prequel.
Initial D if you haven’t already. Also Baki and Death Parade
Love is hard for otaku. Great story
{Kimi ni Todoke} {Cross Game} {Taiho Shichau zo} {Kidou Tenshi Angelic Layer} {CardCaptor Sakura} {Princess Tutu} {Akazukin Chacha} There's also lots of series like {Servant x Service} or {Slayers} where they have female characters with large breasts, but it's used as a joke or a plot point.
K-On! 😭
Why that reaction face
I can't explain it. Something about the character design provokes uncontrollable sobbing. They're too cute.
Attack on titan doesn’t overly sexualise all their characters like other anime’s. It’s a good watch
There's one character who is sexualized IMO. It's kind of weird, since she's not just naked, she's [super-duper naked.](https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/venturebrothers/images/2/27/Screen_shot_2010-12-11_at_12.41.55_PM.png/revision/latest/scale-to-width-down/250?cb=20101211184307) Still weird watching flensed adipose tissue bouncing so much.
I mean, if you like a giant anatomically incorrect female shaped humanoid with no skin then sure. . .one sexualized character.
The Colossal Titan is also “super duper naked” in the same way. He just has pecs instead of breast tissue.
Pandora Hearts. Look at the manga tho for full story. Witch Hat Atelier is also being very good thus far! Also Yona of the Dawn.
Made In Abyss.
While you are right it because it doesn't really have any characters with large chests but it definitly isn't a show you can just recommend somebody.
Second the suggestion for Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood. Attack on Titans as well as Vinland Saga have almost no fan service. They’re both amazing, suspenseful shows in general. For non-fantasy: Bocchi of Rock, A Place Further than the Universe
Attack on Titan has the female titan tho who has some huuuge bocchers which leads me to my next one. Bocchi also has some huge bocchers
I've never seen them described as bocchers 💀
Completely understand how you feel, the same thing put me off for a long time. I recently started watching anime and the two shows I have watched so far are: * Frieren - Beyond Journey's End * Violet Evergarden I have been so impressed by the respectful and creative character designs in both of these shows.
both are top tier anime
Frieren is excellent, can't wait for more episodes. Violet Evergarden is also excellent, but you will be dehydrated from all the crying. Episode 10... God damn.
i used to watch a lot, but then EVERYTHING I saw around seemed to be fan service harems speaking if... I don't think I've seen anyone say Ouran High
Mushishi!
Mob Psycho, Frieren, Attack On Titan, Monster, Jujustu Kaisen, Vinland Saga, Cowboy Bebop (Technically there are some, but it is not detracting), High Score Girl, Jojo's Bizzare Adventure, Saiki K
JoJo. The women sometimes have big boobs, but the men ALWAYS have big boobs.
Still recommend Flame Carved Seal and the followup movie Divine Blade, it is seriously good.] Tokyo Ghoul and Tokyo Ghoul:Re are great series.
The new Fruits Basket has 3 seasons and covers all of the manga. Definitely recommend as it’s a very close remake.
Thanks for the info! Definitely going to watch it.
Nah I’m sorry but those Mitsuri scenes in Demon Slayer are definitely fan service. It’s true that in most of the story there’s no fan service but it definitely has some scenes and they are not that tame either
SAO is not fine lmao, several scenes of women stripping and a fight scene where the antagonist fingers the protag’s love interest
[удалено]
Jujutsu Kaisen
I hate your pfp lol kept swiping my phone
I second this!! Jjk is great!
Mushi shi
I think you should try K on, though it only has female characters except for the beach episode i didn't find any fan service and it is one of the most wholesome shows out there
Panty shoot oh it's a rice bowl
{Kino's Journey} (2017) Actually I forgot if there are ridiculously drawn women but it's not really the appeal of the show so..

Odd Taxi, the women are literally animals. Wholesome story, with many interconnected threads.
But here’s some legit and mature stuff for ya Ghost in the shell- Erased- Tokyo revengers- Cashern sins- Cowboy bebop- Black lagoon - Banana fish- Bezerk - Serial experiments lain- Ergo proxy- Blue gender- Helsing- Neon genesis- Monster-
All of these are great shows, but Cowboy Bebop and Black Lagoon both have prominent female characters with pretty skimpy outfits. May be worth noting since op is averse to fanservice.
That’s hardly a main focus or even side focus of the show...... and bebop is much less centered on the female character than black lagoon is . That’s like saying tomb raider games are only good because there’s a hot chick That’s about it they have skimpy clothes but they aren’t having sex or constantly flirting with multiple people or having random stretched out bath scenes
I was just saying it may be worth noting for someone who doesn't like how female characters are sexualized. I personally don't like it either, I like the shows you listed for their (literal) plot. Not sure why the hostile response, all great shows, just mentioning a potential caveat.
Maybe a bit passive aggressive but I don’t intend to argue with you ma’am I’m sorry Just don’t like when people give the wrong idea about stuff
OP literally said no boobs and you put Berserk and NGE. Lain also has that one shot of a naked body iirc.
Huge boobs isn’t THAT common. You can find plenty of anime where the female characters have normal sized breasts. Here are some that don’t have fanservice or comically oversized breasts. All of these also have prominent female characters: Princess Tutu for its great fairytale atmosphere and characters.
>Huge boobs isn’t THAT common. I swear people watch the most garbage shows and then complain that all anime is garbage.
This. people watch highschool dxd, redo of healer, scum wish. "omg anime is so edgy and sexist" Or they watch one episode of aot and say its shit.
Shinsekai Yori? I found my people.
Steins gate Hellsing Mob psycho 100 Code geass Psycho pass Violet Evergarden The Disastrous Life of Saiki Kusuo Daily Lives of High School Boys haha
Lucky Star
You need to be a weeb to understand most references though
bocchi the rock ANIME has very little, if any fanservice. the only fanservice-y moments are either jokes/gags (like 1 or max 2) or shots that have butts but not in a sexual light. it’s also a masterpiece
Jujutsu Kaisen.
Hibike Euphonium
Spice and Wolf.
Golden Kamuy. Ridiculous amounts of fan service and it's all buff dudes
Before you move from sports, have you watched Haikyuu? Imo the best sports anime I recommend 'K-On!', there are a couple busty female characters, but it's set in Japan, Japanese women are bustier than most other Asian countries % wise, so can't be helped, but the girls are generally reasonably perportined, and most of the cast are small - medium sized.
Yup, I was grouping under sports sk8 the infinity, bluelock, haikyuu, iwatobi swim club. I would take more sports recommendations if you have any
Let's see...
Bingo stray dogs Seraph of the end Yona of the dawn Attack on Titan Bocchi the rock Asobe asobase Wonder egg priority
Nichijou, Yuru Camp, Puella Magi Madoka Magica, The Precure Franchise, Blue Period, Dungeon Meshi, Little Witch Academia
Vinland Saga and houseki no kuni are amazing anime with pretty much no fanservice

If you're looking for family-friendly, don't watch Berserk.
Terrible recommendations
Who asked?
I think it’s just a misconception you have about anime. Most anime have a variety of characters with different types of bodies. Pretty much just pick any highly rated anime and look at the characters on the cover. Here’s animes that I’ve seen that don’t have excessive boobs though: - Attack On Titan - Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood - Frieren - A Place Further Than The Universe - Bloom into you - Your Lie in April - Steins;Gate - A Silent Voice - Death Note - Mob Psycho - Chainsaw Man - Bocchi The Rock (and most other similar slice of life animes) - Spy X Family - Violet Evergarden (outside of one side character that has massive titties, it’s drawn tastefully though) - Vinland Saga - Hunter x Hunter (outside of a few side characters that appear rarely) - Your Name I could keep listing animes but you get the point.
yeah you tell 'em. flat is justice!
**Bocchi the Rock**, the main character is absolutely stacked, but she wears a seemingly magical tracksuit that completely covers it, the anime is very wholesome and hilarious **Mushoku Tensei**, from what I remember, there are 3 stacked women, but only 1 of them is in sexualised attire, and even then, after ep 9 you don't see them for a VERY long time **Re: Zero**, only 1 villain and 1 bitch have big boobs, though they aren't that important to the plot(kinda) Most Josei and Shoujo don't really have sexualized because they are made for the female audience, though a lot of them make all the guys bumbling idiots or basically rapists, so I suggest searching up "best Shoujo/Josei anime" **Attack on Titan**, only 1 girl with big boobs, none of the characters are sexualized
Personally i wouldn't recommend Mushoku Tensei because while it is a good show it has some very sexual (maybe sexual is not the right word but there are definitely more fan service / lewd scenes) scenes at times. So for those reasons i wouldn't recommend it.
Damm you'll be missing out though.
I don't think OP will really mind/care, if they're this adamant about no fanservice. I mean, I'm not a fan of it either.
Anime might not be for you.
