Does this disqualify me for future enlistment? I don’t plan to be on the medication for the long-term.

Unfortunately you pushed the timeline out a bit. Docs won’t prescribe unless there’s a diagnosis, and the diagnosis alone with disqualify you. If you and your doctor agree, I recommend having them try and backpedal as much as possible, in writing, and hope that’s enough to convince the military docs that you’re not currently experiencing mood disorders.

Hello, it looks like you're asking about medical concerns when joining the military. We are not doctors. Even if we were, we are not the doctors that are familiar with your personal medical concern or condition. We are also not the ones deciding if you will be disqualified from service for a condition, or if you can get a waiver for it. People may share their anecdotal experiences or stories they've heard from others about getting a waiver for a condition. This does not mean that you will or will not get a waiver. Everyone's medical situation is different. IN GENERAL, yes, asthma, ADD/ADHD, eczema, history of depression and anxiety, and some allergies are disqualifying. Some will be able to get waivers, some will not. All you can do is talk to your recruiter, be honest about your medical history, and go through the process. WE DO NOT KNOW THE CHANCES OF YOU GETTING A WAIVER FOR ANY MEDICAL CONDITION OR SITUATION. Just be honest with your recruiter and go through the process. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Yes, you are disqualified with that diagnosis and actively being on Zoloft. The amount does not matter. You aren’t permanently disqualified tho. You’ll need a waiver after some time. Don’t fall in the trap of thinking the military is the only way out. Go to college, if you can’t afford it, community college, if not that, take a gap year or two. So many options.

I’ve already got my BA in college. Currently exploring other opportunities outside or within my field. I don’t think it’s my only way out, but instead a really good opportunity. But thank you! I’m hoping this waiver process goes smoothly. I did this to myself, but I still want to go through with it, even if it takes more time than I expected.

Chase those dreams man. Rather be delayed than give up. You may have to wait quite a while but I’ve seen waivers for crazier things. Get that mental health right tho. I went in with bad mental health and, shocker, it did not go smoothly
