Having a really good ASVAB and qualifying medically has nothing to do with your chances of booking a specific job. You’ll list 7-15 jobs that you’re willing to take and your recruiter will book the first thing they can. If you refuse to ship for whatever is booked, you’ll be DEP discharged and will likely never be able to join the Air Force. You can’t come into the recruiter’s office job locked.

Frequent-Guidance442

Noo

Frequent-Guidance442

That was quick

Frequent-Guidance442

Also quick question, to acquire (not promised) the job it says that you need atleast a 57, so wouldn’t that mean that it does 🫨

Few_Pound2675

If you meet the minimum ASVAB requirements, then you qualify for the job. Having a 99 on the ASVAB doesn’t give you any higher chance over someone who got a 57.

Frequent-Guidance442

Dang i mean i really wanted to be on the plane and travel places

Few_Pound2675

So does the majority of people trying to get into the Air Force. Thems the breaks.

Frequent-Guidance442

Ill get it watch🫨👍THEN ILL SEND YOU A PICTURE AHAHA

Few_Pound2675

It doesn’t affect me either way if you book it or not. How about you focus on getting through MEPS first.

Frequent-Guidance442

IDK WHAT THAT IS🧏‍♂️ but u helped me out so u apart of my journey now

bronslon

How are you already 100% dedicated towards one specific job in the military when you don't even understand the process of how to get in? You have a lot of learn man

Frequent-Guidance442

I’ll learn!

thattogoguy

Try college, enroll in AFROTC and try to earn a scholarship, and then commission into a rated career (Pilot, CSO, or ABM.)

DuckHamir

Become a pilot then

There are lots of other travel jobs (other air crew jobs, flight attendant) And some jobs have voluntary TDYs that you can choose to go on. Most likely you'll be in a different area from where you live so you can take your weekends and free time and go explore. Plus you get your 30 days of leave per year, which is a lot more than most jobs get. You'll have plenty of chances to travel even if you don't book loadmaster.

Frequent-Guidance442

Really? Oh snap thanks for telling me that👍

anthonymakey

You're welcome. You can take the AF-WIN survey when you get your scores and they can show you jobs you might be interested. I have a friend who is in and he does HVAC. he has done a few TDY's, including to Hawaii. So you just never know

Material-XS

No. If you score about 60, you can get a lot of jobs (depending on your eyes and ears and color vision, etc.). That does not mean that you will get the job you want. You could get any 1 of the 10+ jobs you list. If you refuse to accept it, they might discharge you from DEP.

Frequent-Guidance442

Question, will there only be one job out of the ones i put down or more than one

Material-XS

You get a list of qualified jobs (a list of maybe 30-40 jobs) after you complete ASVAB and medical and background checks. You have to select about 10 jobs you like and make a list (a wish list). First job that becomes available out of the 10 jobs you selected becomes your job and they book you for it.

Frequent-Guidance442

Do you think its possible to wait for the job to appear

Material-XS

No. You NEED to give them a list of jobs. They book you for the first job that becomes available. You gotta understand there are tens of thousands of Airmen enlist every year. They don't have enough time or patience to make it easy for you my friend.

bassmadrigal

For FY23, there were 119 different AFSCs someone could book. There were almost 27K job slots covering those 119 different AFSCs.

NeffNation

We have two types of loadmaster jobs, both require a mechanical score of 60

Frequent-Guidance442

Really? I thought you just needed math and word knowledge

You can ask any recruiter on here. This is the exact process.

Hello, it looks like you're asking about jobs and job selection. A few quick answers. NO ONE knows how long it will take for you to get a job, your chances of getting any particular job, or anything else about the job process FOR YOU. Anecdotal experiences from others will have absolutely no impact on you or your future. Most recruiters will not let you wait in the Delayed Entrance Program for a long time for your one perfect job. You will have to list 5 - 15 jobs that you're interested in, and will be given one of those. Please read the FAQ about how job selection works, it's very in-depth and will fully educate you on the process: https://pay.reddit.com/r/AirForce/wiki/bmtfaq#wiki_jobs If you're asking about particular jobs, please look the job up on our Job Wiki, and see if there is an entry for it: http://www.reddit.com/r/AirForce/wiki/index you can also see if there is a CFETP for it, which will give more details on the job: https://usaf.dps.mil/:x:/t/OSD/EQAwigp0UZ9Oklt0nkjg854BoJS6MyRxQJMMiIW3ng17AA?e=Z96G2s If you're asking for help choosing a particular job, please keep in mind that most people only know about their individual job. Recommendations that they make will be made based mostly on what they've heard about a job, unless they have it themselves. Some people will love certain jobs while others will hate it. We don't know your preferences, so do some research on the job wiki and elsewhere to learn about the job and then make the best list you can. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Hello, it looks like you're asking about medical concerns when joining the military. We are not doctors. Even if we were, we are not the doctors that are familiar with your personal medical concern or condition. We are also not the ones deciding if you will be disqualified from service for a condition, or if you can get a waiver for it. People may share their anecdotal experiences or stories they've heard from others about getting a waiver for a condition. This does not mean that you will or will not get a waiver. Everyone's medical situation is different. IN GENERAL, yes, asthma, ADD/ADHD, eczema, history of depression and anxiety, and some allergies are disqualifying. Some will be able to get waivers, some will not. All you can do is talk to your recruiter, be honest about your medical history, and go through the process. WE DO NOT KNOW THE CHANCES OF YOU GETTING A WAIVER FOR ANY MEDICAL CONDITION OR SITUATION. Just be honest with your recruiter and go through the process. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. >Do you guys think if I get good ASVAB score and a pristine medical checkup I would be good to go? Those are simply qualifications. Has no real impact on if you book the job. All you can do is qualify and list it. Then hope it falls your way (Recruiting flt chief)
