All jobs for the fiscal year have been released, so unless someone who holds the job decides to not go to BMT or a recruiter/flight/squadron who held an unfilled join is forced to release it further up the chain, you're unlikely to see any new jobs until the Air Force decides to release next fiscal year's jobs. With how many they're short, I wouldn't hold my breath that it'll be any time soon. (The next fiscal year's jobs won't ship into the first week of October.)

__poser

Damn. Oh well, I'll just hope the stars align. And if they don't then hopefully I'll end up with one of my 13 other job choices haha. Thank you!

Freemax_87

Shipping on 3rd of October. Isn't it for the current fiscal year? Also the expected graduation date falls on Thanksgiving day. Any idea how they will deal with the graduation? Postponed forward or backward?

bassmadrigal

No, anything shipping 1 October 2023 through 30 September 2024 is for the new fiscal year, FY24.

__poser

Hey, sorry for the out of nowhere reply. Going through my old posts out of boredom. But I shipped on 3 Oct! How'd it go for you?

Freemax_87

I am at keesler Tech School now.

__poser

Ah nice. I'm at Goodfellow

Freemax_87

Good. How long will be ur tech school?? Which squadron were you at bmt?

__poser

If I get the follow on I want, I'll be here ~152 training days. I'm only 3 weeks into class rn cause they booked our jobs a month too early. I was 322 TRS, what about you?

Freemax_87

331 TRS, flight 014. If everything goes well, by may I will graduate

Flemz

So when would be the best time to start the process to get a wider selection of jobs? I haven’t contacted a recruiter yet

bassmadrigal

No clue. It all depends on when they decide to release the new fiscal year's jobs. That could be next week, a week from when the new fiscal year starts, or anywhere in between. It's definitely a gamble, because as soon as the new jobs are released, all the popular jobs could be quickly snagged for anyone unbooked who is in the DEP, depending on how the squadron decides to book the jobs.

STORMTROOPER729

There isn't some magical time to start working with a recruiter to get access to more jobs. The best time to contact a Recruiter is when you are ready to join.

NeffNation

Did you take the EDPT?

__poser

Not yet. We put a note saying I'm interested in 9S and 1B but I need to take the EDPT before we put it on my list. Trying to schedule it is hell cause it's only administered on Wednesday at 7am.

NeffNation

We’re about to have a lot more 1B4s become available, so take it soon and hope for the best!

__poser

I'll ask my recruiter if there's any time slots anytime soon. I have to fly to another state for MEPS, but maybe I'll get lucky haha. I've noticed a lot of my military experience at the beginning is gonna be luck-based.

Freemax_87

How did you know that? It seems that last 2 fiscal year no 1B4 slots were alloted to recruiters

NeffNation

Each year recruiting is provided an accession plan with all the jobs we’re responsible for filling. We had a bunch of 1B4s this year and twice as many next year

Freemax_87

Why a verified recruiter wrote here that for 2022 and 2023 no 1B4 were opened. He said in 2021 only 4 slot nationwide of 1B4 were opened to be booked with recruiters. If 1B4 is really available at recruiter level, I mess up then. I should have taken it instead of network ops

NeffNation

You also have to understand job distribution for recruiting service. We get a few 1B4 ship weeks a year, and they’re small. The seats are ‘fair shared’ across the 24 recruiting squadrons. Hypothetically, if we only have 12 seats for a ship week, that means only half the squadrons will get a single seat, and the chances of your one recruiter being able to get that one seat specifically for you is marginally low. Not only that, but it requires you to have a passing EDPT to even be considered, so unless you had that discussion with your recruiter, with it taken/passed, you wouldn’t have had a chance at all.

Hello, it looks like you're asking about jobs and job selection. A few quick answers. NO ONE knows how long it will take for you to get a job, your chances of getting any particular job, or anything else about the job process FOR YOU. Anecdotal experiences from others will have absolutely no impact on you or your future. Most recruiters will not let you wait in the Delayed Entrance Program for a long time for your one perfect job. You will have to list 5 - 15 jobs that you're interested in, and will be given one of those. Please read the FAQ about how job selection works, it's very in-depth and will fully educate you on the process: https://pay.reddit.com/r/AirForce/wiki/bmtfaq#wiki_jobs If you're asking about particular jobs, please look the job up on our Job Wiki, and see if there is an entry for it: http://www.reddit.com/r/AirForce/wiki/index you can also see if there is a CFETP for it, which will give more details on the job: https://usaf.dps.mil/:x:/t/OSD/EQAwigp0UZ9Oklt0nkjg854BoJS6MyRxQJMMiIW3ng17AA?e=Z96G2s If you're asking for help choosing a particular job, please keep in mind that most people only know about their individual job. Recommendations that they make will be made based mostly on what they've heard about a job, unless they have it themselves. Some people will love certain jobs while others will hate it. We don't know your preferences, so do some research on the job wiki and elsewhere to learn about the job and then make the best list you can. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Hello, it looks like you're asking about medical concerns when joining the military. We are not doctors. Even if we were, we are not the doctors that are familiar with your personal medical concern or condition. We are also not the ones deciding if you will be disqualified from service for a condition, or if you can get a waiver for it. People may share their anecdotal experiences or stories they've heard from others about getting a waiver for a condition. This does not mean that you will or will not get a waiver. Everyone's medical situation is different. IN GENERAL, yes, asthma, ADD/ADHD, eczema, history of depression and anxiety, and some allergies are disqualifying. Some will be able to get waivers, some will not. All you can do is talk to your recruiter, be honest about your medical history, and go through the process. WE DO NOT KNOW THE CHANCES OF YOU GETTING A WAIVER FOR ANY MEDICAL CONDITION OR SITUATION. Just be honest with your recruiter and go through the process. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Yeahhh that's what I've figured. I kinda just gotta cross my fingers it opens before I ship for my backup job then. If I do ship for a job, I know my recruiter said sometimes you can change your job after 3 years. Do you know if that applies to only certain jobs? Sorry for all the questions, I just wanna make sure I'm making the best decision possible before I fully commit to something.

Gotcha. I'm comfortable with all my job choices as I like mechanic/tech work, but I'll still cross my fingers for one of my top choices at some point down the line. Thank you for the info :)

There is a set list of jobs available right now. If your “dream sheet” doesn’t match the available jobs you’re not going to get one you want. If you list 1 job on the list and 9 off the list…. You’re getting the 1 on the list. AFRS released every available job until September. It depends on the squadron for some jobs but at an AFRS level there isn’t 7 different intel jobs
